Scanner Skew Adjustment
The scanner skew measurements will vary somewhat between test pages. Make sure that you print
several pages before determining if the scanner is within acceptable skew limits.
Things of which you should be familiar:
• FADF – Front side ADF. This is the 1
st
page (side 1) of a document as scanned from the ADF.
• BADF – Back Side ADF. This is the 2
nd
page (side 2) of a duplexed document as scanned from
the ADF.
• FB – Flatbed
• Leading Edge – This is the first edge of the document to enter the ADF.
• Trailing Edge – This is the last edge of the document to enter the ADF.
• Vertical – the left and right sides of the document.
Most adjustments will affect all three skew measurements (leading edge, trailing edge, and vertical).
Check to make sure all three measurements are in spec with good margins before completing the repair.
The goal is to have all three measurements less than 0.005mm/mm after adjustment.
Adjustments for FADF and BADF will change the skew in different directions. Be sure to check the
FADF, BADF for the leading edge, trailing edge and verticals to make sure that fixing one does not make
another one worse.
