Overview

This document is an owner's manual for an LG wall-mounted air conditioner, identified by P/NO: MFL63288101. It provides comprehensive instructions for operation, maintenance, and safety precautions.

Function Description:

The LG air conditioner is designed for cooling, heating (heat pump models only), healthy dehumidification, and air circulation. It incorporates a Plasma Purification system for improved air quality. The unit can be controlled via a wireless remote controller, which allows users to select various operation modes, adjust temperature, fan speed, and airflow direction, and set timers.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Type: Wall Mounted Air Conditioner
  • Power Supply: The manual emphasizes the importance of using a properly grounded power plug and socket, and a dedicated circuit breaker. It warns against using defective or underrated circuit breakers, multi-sockets, or damaged power cables.
  • Refrigerant: Users are instructed to check the refrigerant type specified on the product label and to ensure that only the specified refrigerant is used in the system. Gas leakage during installation or repair requires immediate ventilation.
  • Batteries: The wireless remote controller uses 2 AAA (1.5 volt) batteries. Users are advised to replace both batteries of the same type, avoid mixing old and new batteries, and remove them if the system is not used for a long time.
  • Temperature Range: For cooling, the temperature can be set within 18°C~30°C (64°F~86°F). For heating, the range is 16°C~30°C (60°F~86°F).
  • Fan Speed: The indoor fan speed can be selected in six steps: low, medium-low, medium, medium-high, high, and natural wind.
  • Plasma Purification: This technology uses high-charge electrons to kill and destroy microscopic contaminants in the intake air, providing clean and hygienic air.

Usage Features:

  • Operation Modes:
    • Cooling: Standard cooling operation.
    • Heating: (Heat pump models only) Standard heating operation.
    • Auto Changeover: Automatically switches between heating and cooling to maintain the temperature within ±2°C (±4°F) of the setting.
    • Healthy Dehumidification: Automatically sets room temperature and airflow volume for optimal dehumidification, ensuring a healthy and comfortable environment in humid seasons. The setting temperature is not displayed or controllable in this mode.
    • Air Circulation: Circulates air without cooling or heating. The fan speed can be adjusted.
    • Plasma Purification: Can be activated in any operation mode or when the unit is stopped to purify the air.
    • Energy-Saving Cooling Mode: Operates efficiently by adjusting body-adaptation time and desired temperature automatically to save energy.
    • Jet Cool/Heat Operation: Quickly cools or heats the room. In cooling, it runs at super high fan speed with an 18°C (64°F) setting for 30 minutes. In heating (some models), it runs at super high fan speed with a 30°C (86°F) setting for 30 minutes.
  • Remote Controller Functions:
    • ON/OFF Button: Turns the unit on or off.
    • PLASMA Button: Starts or stops plasma purification.
    • SLEEP MODE AUTO Button: Sets sleep mode auto operation (1 to 7 hours).
    • ROOM TEMPERATURE SETTING Buttons: Selects the desired room temperature.
    • INDOOR FAN SPEED SELECTION Button: Selects fan speed.
    • HORIZONTAL VANE CONTROL Button: Sets the vertical airflow direction.
    • VERTICAL LOUVER CONTROL Button: Sets the horizontal airflow direction.
    • ROOM TEMPERATURE CHECKING Button: Checks the room temperature.
    • TIMER Button: Sets the current time and start/stop times.
    • ENERGY SAVING COOLING Button: Activates energy-saving cooling.
    • AUTO CLEAN Button: Sets auto clean function.
    • LED LUMINOSITY Button: Adjusts the brightness of the unit's LED display.
    • TIME ADJUSTING Buttons: Adjusts the time.
    • TIMER SET/CLEAR Button: Sets or cancels timer operations.
    • °C TO °F SWITCHING Button: Switches temperature reading between Centigrade and Fahrenheit.
    • RESET Button: Used prior to resetting time.
  • Forced Operation: Allows the unit to operate without the remote controller. Pressing the ON/OFF button starts the operation, and re-pressing it stops it. During test operation, the unit runs in cooling mode at high fan speed for 18 minutes.
  • Auto Restart Function: Restores previous operating conditions after a power failure. This feature is enabled by default but can be disabled/enabled by holding the ON/OFF button for 6 seconds.

Maintenance Features:

  • Indoor Unit Cleaning: Clean with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh detergents, solvents, or water hotter than 40°C (104°F).
  • Air Filter Cleaning: Check and clean air filters every two weeks or more often if necessary. Remove filters, clean with a vacuum cleaner or warm soapy water, dry in shade, and reinsert.
  • Plasma Filter Cleaning: Check and clean plasma filters every three months or more often. Clean with a vacuum cleaner, or wash with water and dry in shade.
  • Allergy Free Filter + Triple Filter Maintenance: Remove and expose to direct sunlight for 2 hours, then reinsert.
  • Outdoor Unit Cleaning: Regularly check heat exchanger coils and panel vents. If clogged, they should be professionally steam cleaned.
  • Self-Diagnosis Function: The unit has an inbuilt error diagnosis capability. The unit's LED will blink if a thermistor fails, indicating a need to contact a serviceman.
  • Routine Checkup & Cleaning: Users are advised to perform routine checkups and cleaning to prevent poor performance. Special situations requiring service should be handled by a service person only.
