pressure,
the burner
must have sufficient
gas
pressure,
and
the temperature
of
the water in
the tender
water
tank should be

ln the winter, the water in the tender
water tank will cool faster, and the
gas
pressure
will fall faster. When
this happens, the sound of the
burner
will
change.
To
offset
that
de-
pressurization
of the
gas
reservoir,
slowly add
warm water
to the
tender
water tank.

experiment
with
the
throttle
valve
to find

Maintenance

safety

be followed
at the end

each operating
session:
1. lf the Frank
S. is stained
with oil,
water
or dirt, wipe
it clean with
rags
or
towels.
2.
Siphon any remaining
water
out
of the
drain tank. The
drain tank
may be
empty due to the
heat
from
the burner,
but check for
a
dry tank
by opening
the
smokebox door.
3.
When
the boiler is
cool, unscrew
the water
plug
and the
safety
valve,
and drain
any remaining
water from
the boiler.
4.
Siphon the
oil and water
out of
the
oil tank after
every operation.
Refill the
oil tank with f resh
stdam
cvlinder
oil.
Radio
Control
Installation
The Frank
S. does
not
come
equip-
ped
with
radio
control
equipment,
but
it does
have
the
necessarv
space for
mounting
the servo
motor
in
the right
side tank
of the
engine
and
for mounting
the
batteries
and
receiver
in the
tender.
A
one-channel
radio
control
set
coupled
with
a
single
servo motor
is
all that is
needed
to
operate
the
Frank
S.
by radio
control. The
servo
simply
controls
the reverser
which
can
be
used to
control
both
speed
and
direction.
The reverser
stroke
is
12
mm.
Refer
to Figure

for installation
in-
structions
for
the R/C
equipment.
