S."
nar-
row
gauge
locomotive, a steam era
classic
which still
pulls
special
trains
on the Jagsttalbahn
near Heilbronn/
Stuttgart in the
Federal Republic of
Germany.
The
Frank
S.
is made exclusivelyfor
Lehmann by the craftsmen at
Aster,
and it is specially designed
and built
to
avoid
the complexity of
conven-
tional live steam
model locomotives.
The Frank S. is also small enough
(1:22.5
scale)
to run on standard
LGB G
gauge
track along
with the
full line
of electric-powered
locomo-
tives and rollino stock
from LGB

The
ooeration
of the
Frank
S.
is

Components
Many
of
the working
components of
the Frank
S. are
very
similar in
prin-
ciple to those
on
the
original
"Frank
S."
prototype.
However, the Frank
S.,
like
all small scale
live
steam
locomotives, is
sensitive
to tempera-
tures,
winds
and other conditions.
For safe and
enjoyable operation,
you
must
understand the workings
of each component
before
trying to
operate the
model.
Boiler:
This
center
flue type boiler
is
made of
copper tube
and
plates
which are silver-soldered
through-
out.
lt is designed
to withstand a
maximum
pressure
of
14 kg/cm'.
Under excess
pressure,
the center
flue tube
will reoture first so
that
water
from the can extinguish
the
ourner.
The boiler
provides
ample space
for
good
steam
generation
when 807o
full of water.
