The Liebert HIROSS Microface E is a microprocessor-based electronic controller designed for high-performance air conditioning units. It automatically manages and controls all processes of the unit, ensuring efficient operation. The system consists of two main modules: the Microface printed circuit board (PCB) and the LCD display module with a keyboard.
Function Description:
The Microface Control System is specifically developed to effectively manage all individual functions of air conditioning units. It controls the operation of the unit based on various parameters and sensor inputs. The system allows for the monitoring and adjustment of temperature, humidity, fan speed, and other critical operational settings.
Modules of the Microface Control System:
-
Microface Printed Circuit Board (PCB): This board is the core of the control system, responsible for executing the control logic and managing the unit's operations. It is installed inside the electrical panel of the unit. The PCB features various jumpers for configuration, including:
- EWE (EPROM write enable): Always set this jumper.
- A (Address setting): Used for units connected to other units (no jumper for single units).
- A1 (Analog inputs selection): Selects analog input configurations.
- E/F (EPROM / Flash memory selection): Set if EPROM is installed; do not set if Flash memory is installed.
- SG (Subgroup ID settings): Configures subgroup identification.
- HM (Comb connector for I-Module): Present only when a humidifier is installed.
- ES (EPROM/Flash memory size selection): Set between middle and right pins for 1 or 2 Mbit devices, or between middle and left pins for 4 Mbit devices.
The PCB also includes connectors for the local LCD display, Humitemp sensor, and HIROBUS for communication with other Hiromatic G or Microface units.
-
LCD Display Module: This module serves as the user interface, providing a backlit LCD and three push buttons (Up, Down, Enter) for data input and display. It allows users to read, set, and reset values, parameters, and alarms. Access to writing parameters is protected by a password.
- LED Indicators:
- Yellow LED: Indicates the unit is power supplied.
- Green LED: Lights up when the unit is in operation.
- Red LED: Signals an alarm or warning condition.
- Display Symbols:
- Snow symbol: Active when the unit is in cooling mode.
- Fan symbol: Active when the unit is running (fans are operating).
- Sun symbol: Active when the unit is in heating mode.
- Alarm triangle: ON when a warning or alarm is active.
- "SET" string: Appears after correct password entry, confirming full access to parameters.
- "RH" and "%" strings: Appear when relative humidity is displayed.
- "°C" string: Appears when temperature is displayed.
Important Technical Specifications:
- EPROM: The device storing the software program. It does not store user settings, which are handled by the Microface's RAM and E2Prom. The current software version is MVM 160021.
- Humitemp Sensor: A combined temperature and humidity sensor. It is an air sensor used in air-conditioning units. The Microface uses its values for all control operations when installed.
- Connection: Connected to the Microface board via a Hirobus-cable.
- Max. Cable Length: 25 meters.
- Address Switches/Jumpers: Located on the rear of the sensor, allowing different functions to be set.
- LCD Display Module Connection:
- Connection Type B (HIROBUS): Uses an 8-wire screened flat cable.
- Screen Connection: Connected on both sides to earth.
- Max. Length: 20 meters.
- T-Adapter: Necessary only when both "Hirobus" sensors and a "remote" LCD display are connected to the same jack. Otherwise, it can be connected directly to the Microface E "HT" Jack.
Usage Features:
- Programming: All values and parameters are entered or displayed via the LCD display module.
- Navigation: Use "up" and "down" push-buttons to scroll through parameters. Press "Enter" to select a parameter and modify its value. Press "Enter" again to confirm the new value.
- Fast Navigation: Press "up" or "down" and "Enter" simultaneously to quickly move to the first or last parameter.
- Parameter Groups: Parameters are organized into three groups:
- Group 0: Read-only data.
- Group 1 & 2: Adjustable data, protected by individual passwords.
- Password Protection:
- Password 1: Allows access and modification of Group 1 data.
- Password 2: Grants access and modification rights for both Group 1 and Group 2 parameters.
- Without a correct password, parameters are displayed but cannot be modified.
- Alarm Management:
- Access: Press the "up" push-button when the first parameter is displayed to enter the alarm section.
- Display: Alarm codes are displayed, alternating with their coded descriptions every second.
- Reset: Press the "Enter" key when an alarm code is displayed to reset all active alarms. Still active alarms will be shown again. If no active alarms remain, the display returns to the first parameter.
