Overview

The LifeSafety Power Vantage Power System is a series of smart power supply chargers designed for various applications, including proprietary burglar alarm and access control systems. The system includes models FPV4, FPV6, FPV102, and FPV104, each offering different output capabilities.

Function Description:

The Vantage Power System provides regulated DC power for security and access control applications. It features an AC input for primary power, with options for 120VAC or 230VAC operation (requiring a jumper cut for 230VAC). The power supplies offer a main DC output, which can be configured for either constant or switched operation based on the Fire Alarm Input (FAI) settings. An auxiliary voltage output is also provided. The system includes a battery terminal connection for optional backup batteries, ensuring continuous operation during power outages. Fault contacts (System Fault and AC Fault) are available for monitoring by a listed control panel, and a DataLink connection allows for optional programming and monitoring via a NetLink network module. The FAI input allows for integration with Fire Alarm Control Panels (FACP) and can be configured to accept Normally Open (NO), Normally Closed (NC), Open Collector, or Voltage inputs.

Usage Features:

  • Voltage Selection: FPV4 and FPV6 models allow selection between 12VDC and 24VDC output via a jumper. FPV102 and FPV104 have fixed output voltages (12V/10A and 24V/10A respectively).
  • AC Input Voltage Selection: A jumper must be cut for 230VAC input; leave intact for 120VAC. Failure to do so will damage the system and void the warranty.
  • Fire Alarm Input (FAI): Configurable for various input types (NO, NC, Open Collector, Voltage) and can control the main output (constant or switched). Latching FAI input is also possible.
  • Charge Current Configuration: DIP switches allow adjustment of battery charge current (High or Low).
  • LED Indicators: AC ON (Green) indicates valid AC input; FAI LED (Red) indicates FAI activation; DC ON (Green for 12V, Blue for 24V on FPV6/104) indicates voltage presence on the main output.
  • Fault Monitoring: System Fault and AC Fault contacts provide status to a control panel.
  • Enclosure Mounting: Designed for wall-mount installation, with specific instructions for marking, pre-drilling, and securing the enclosure. For UL1076 applications, two supplied 1" screws must be installed to the cover for additional security.
  • Wire Routing: Class 2 Power Limited wiring must be separated from non-power limited wiring by a minimum of 1/4 inch and use separate knockouts. All wiring through knockouts must be enclosed in rigid or flexible metal conduit.
  • Canadian Installations: Requires an external, readily accessible disconnect device for permanently connected equipment and output circuits not connected to removable terminal strips.
  • Tamper Switch Wiring: A normally closed tamper switch can be integrated for monitoring by a host panel, either directly or in series with the System Fault relay. Required for UL1076 installations.
  • UL Compliance: The power supply must be installed within a protected area and mounted in a Listed LifeSafety Power enclosure. Locking devices must be configured for fail-safe operation upon alarm.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Maintenance: Batteries should be maintained at an ambient temperature between 0-49°C (32-120°F). The system and any batteries should be tested at least once per year.
  • Fuse Replacement: Replace fuses only with the same type and rating as indicated in the specifications section.
  • Service: Installation and service should only be performed by qualified service personnel and conform to all local codes. Always confirm the absence of AC power with a meter before servicing.
  • Wiring Integrity: Ensure all wiring is routed and secured to prevent accidental open or short circuit conditions.
  • Output Voltage Verification: Test and verify output voltage before connecting the load.
  • DataLink Connection: Allows for optional programming and monitoring of the power supply via a NetLink network module, simplifying diagnostics and configuration.
