Overview

The provided document describes the "SUMMIT FULL/FULL BUNK BED" (model 4674/4675) from Living Spaces, along with its associated hardware kit (7030-00449 KIT). This is a full-over-full bunk bed designed for sleeping two individuals in a compact footprint.

Function Description:

The Summit Full/Full Bunk Bed is a furniture item designed to provide two sleeping surfaces, one above the other, making efficient use of vertical space. It is intended for use in bedrooms, particularly where space is limited. The bed frame is constructed to support standard full-size mattresses and foundations. It includes guardrails for the upper bunk to ensure user safety and a ladder (implied by safety warnings) for access to the upper bunk.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Hardware Kit (7030-00449 KIT / MAS90: 5043-43250):
    • Lag Bolts: 32 x 100mm Decorative Head Lag Bolts. These are the primary fasteners for assembling the bed frame.
    • Allen Wrench: 1 x 4mm Allen Wrench (included for assembly).
    • Wooden Dowels: 4 x 1/2" x 3" Fluted Wooden Dowels. These are used for aligning and connecting the top and bottom bunk assemblies.
    • Particle Board Screws: 20 x 6 x 1 1/4" Phil Flat Particle Board Screws. These are used for securing the slats.
    • Power Drill Driver: 1 x 4mm Driver for Power Drill (recommended for assembly).
  • Bed Components (Parts List for 4674/4675 Summit Full/Full Bunk Bed):
    • End Assemblies: 2 Top End Assemblies (C) and 2 Bottom End Assemblies (D). These form the vertical structure of the bunk bed.
    • Mattress Rails: 4 x 5" x 75" Mattress Rails w/Support Cleats (E). These support the mattress and foundation for both bunks.
    • Guard Rails: 4 x 3 1/4" x 75" Guard Rails (F). These are crucial safety features for the upper bunk.
    • Wooden Dowels: 4 x 1/2" x 3" Wooden Dowels (G). (Note: This matches the quantity and size in the hardware kit, indicating they are part of the bed components).
    • Loose Slats: 6 x 3 1/2" x 53 3/4" Loose Slats (H). These are additional slats to be placed in gaps of a slat roll or used as part of the foundation.
    • Wood Screws: 20 x 1 1/4" Wood Screws (I). (Note: This matches the quantity and size of the particle board screws in the hardware kit, indicating they are the same item).
    • Power Drill Driver: 1 x 4mm Driver for Power Drill (J). (Note: This matches the item in the hardware kit).
  • Mattress and Foundation Requirements:
    • Full Bed Dimensions: Designed to use a mattress 52"- 54" in width and 74" - 75" in length.
    • Total Thickness: The total thickness of the mattress and foundation (slat kit, bunk board, etc.) combined must not exceed 10 inches.
    • Guardrail Clearance: There must be at least 5 inches from the mattress sleeping surface to the top edge of the guardrail.
    • Foundation: A foundation is required with a 3-slat configuration. Options include a slat roll (sold separately) or a bunkie board (sold separately).

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: Requires 2 persons and approximately 60 minutes for assembly. Tools required include the included 4mm Allen Wrench, a 4mm Allen Drill Bit (ensure it's fully seated), and a Phillips head Screwdriver or Drill with a Phillips Bit. A power driver with the drill bit is recommended.
  • Safety Warnings (ASTM F-1427 compliant):
    • Follow all warnings on the bed structure and carton.
    • Use recommended size mattress/support to prevent entrapment/falls.
    • Mattress surface must be at least 5 inches below the upper guardrail edge.
    • Children under six years of age should not use the upper bunk.
    • Periodically check guardrails, ladder, and components for proper position, damage, and tight connectors.
    • Prohibit horseplay, jumping, and more than one person on the upper bunk.
    • Always use the ladder or bed end for entering/leaving the upper bunk.
    • Do not use substitute parts; contact the manufacturer/dealer for replacements.
    • A night-light may provide added safety for a child using the upper bunk.
    • If placed next to a wall, the full-length guardrail should be against the wall to prevent entrapment.
    • Always use guardrails on both long sides of the upper bunk.
    • Water or sleep flotation mattresses are prohibited.
    • Keep instructions for future reference.
    • Strangulation Hazard: Never attach or hang items (hooks, belts, jump ropes) not designed for use with the bed.
  • Slat Installation:
    • When using a slat roll, the three individual slats should be placed evenly in the gaps and underneath the strapping before fastening with screws.
    • For bunkie board use, individual slats are also installed, and the bunkie board is placed on top.

Maintenance Features:

  • Periodic Checks: Users are advised to periodically check and ensure that the guardrail, ladder, and other components are in their proper position, free from damage, and that all connectors are tight.
  • Replacement Parts: Replacement parts, including additional guardrails, can be obtained from your Furniture dealer.
  • Assembly Note: Lag bolts should be started into the holes on the frame rails during assembly and should not be fully tightened until the entire assembly is complete. This allows for adjustments and proper alignment before final securing.
