Defrosting Frozen Food
Take the frozen food out from the freezer compartment and uncover the frozen food. Let
it defrost at room temperature. Don’t forget that defrosting in a warm area encourages the
growth of bacteria and low temperature cooking may not destroy dangerous bacteria.
Drain o and throw away any liquid lost during defrosting.
Always make sure there are no ice crystals in the food before cooking, particularly with meat.
These crystals indicate that the food has not fully defrosted.
Cook food as soon as possible after defrosting.
Many microwaves and ovens have a defrost setting. To avoid bacterial build up, only use
these if you intend to cook the food immediately afterwards.
Never re-freeze anything that has been defrosted unless you cook it again, to kill o
harmful bacteria. Never re-freeze defrosted shellsh. Re-seal packs properly after
removing items. This prevents drying or freezer-burn and a build up of frost on any
remaining food.
Getting the Best Performance From Your Fridge Freezer
Its not recommended that you operate your unit in environments where the temperature will
go below 10°C, it will reduce the eciency of the unit.
Keep the number of times you open the door to a minimum. Frequently opening the door
will reduce the eciency of the unit.
Your unit has a 5 minute delay on the compressor. When connecting to the mains or after
a power cut the compressor will not operate for 5 minutes to prevent damage to the
compressor.
Energy Saving Tips
Install the appliance in a cool, well ventilated room, but not in direct sunlight and not near a
heat source (such as a radiator or oven) otherwise an insulating plate should be used.
Allow warm food and drinks to cool before placing them inside the appliance.
Drinks or other liquids should be covered when inside the appliance. If left uncovered,
the humidity inside the appliance will increase, therefore the appliance uses more energy.
Keeping drinks and other liquids covered helps preserve their smell and taste.
Avoid keeping the doors open for long periods and opening the doors too frequently as
warm air will enter the appliance and cause the compressor to switch on unnecessarily often.
The door gasket must be clean and pliable. Replace gaskets if worn.
It is possible to store more food by removing freezer drawers. Energy consumption is declared
with maximum load and without freezer drawers.
