Gather included and required tools for the cable replacement process.
Loosen retention screws on the cable attachment barrel using the hex key.
Instructions for dealing with cables that are stuck during removal.
Pull the cable and housing out of the angle guard, disconnecting the beater frame.
Loosen and remove the black nut from the cable sheath using a wrench.
Pull the black sheath stopper from the screw top using pliers if necessary.
Slide the cable housing off the steel cable by pulling in opposite directions.
Slide the felt washer off the cable and set it aside.
Remove the cable stopper from the footboard chain attachment using pliers or cutters.
Pull the entire steel cable out of the chain attachment link and pedal frame.
Thread the new steel cable through the footboard chain attachment and ensure the stopper catches.
Slide the felt washer onto the new cable down to the footboard chain.
Insert and pull the new cable through the channel at the top of the footboard frame.
Twist frayed cable fibers and thread the cable end into the new housing.
Thread steel cable into housing, slide housing down, and ensure correct exposure at both ends.
Insert housed cable into stopper, slide down, and push into screw top until notches catch.
Insert housed cable into sheath, slide down, and tighten the black nut onto the fitting.
Insert housed cable into angle guard, pull through top hole, leaving slight slack.
Thread steel cable into the bottom hole of the attachment barrel and tighten set screws.
Pull upward on the tension spring and slide the hanger back onto the bearing ring.
Test the pedal by pushing the footboard to check beater motion and spring back.
