This
unit
incorporates
two
8
kbyte
microcomputers,
one
for
use
in
the
mechanism
control
and
the
other
for
use
in
the
digital
counter
(peak-hold
bar
meter,
peak-level
indication).

Microcomputer-based
operations

Cassette-tape
slack
removal
mechanism
When
a
cassette
tape
is
inserted
and
the
cassette
compartment
is
closed,
the
left
reel
rotates
aupornelieally
to
remove
any
tape
slack.

Timer
recording/playback
Recording
or
playback
can
be
started
automatically
when
the
power
is
turned
on
at
the
specified
time
by
an
audio timer
combined
with
this
unit.

with
timer”.)

Quick
rewind
By
pressing
the
«#4
button
directly
after
the
required
content
has
been
recorded,
the
tape
is
rewound
and
returns
automati-
cally
to
the
position
where
the
recording
was
started
and
the
unit
enters
the
STOP
mode.
This
feature
is
convenient
for
replaying
a
music
which
has
just
been
recorded
or
re-recording
music.

REC
MUTE
mechanism
When
it
is
necessary
to
cut
out
commercials
during
off-the-air
FM
recording
or
during
tape
dubbing,
a
non-recorded
blank
of
4
seconds
can
be
created
with
a
one-touch
operation.
After
this,
the
unit
enters
the
REC
PAUSE
mode
automatically
to
stand
by
for
the
start
of
the
next
recording.

Next
search
When
the
»
button
is
pressed
twice
during
playback,
the
tape
‘is
fast-forwarded
to
the
beginning
of
the
next
program
and
playback-resumes
from
there.

Previous

When
the

pressed
twice

rewound
to
the
beginning

the
current
program
and

switch
is
switched
ON
while
the
TIMER
switch
is
still
set
to
REC,
even
though
Timer
Recording
is
not
required,
the
unit
will
go
straight:
into
the
REC
mode.
To
prevent
this,
be
sure
to-set
the
TIMER
switch
to
OFF
when
Timer
Recording
is
not
required.
Timer
Recording
By
attaching
an
audio timer
to
this
unit,
radio
broadcasts.
can
be
recorded
while
your
are
absent
or
sleeping.
1.
Set
the
audio timer
to
the
ON
position,
and
set
the
TIMER
switch
of
this unit
to
OFF
(center
position).
2.
Set
the
power
of
your
stereo
system
to
ON,
and
tune
the
tuner
to
the
radio
station
to
be
recorded.
3.
Set the
POWER
switch
to
ON,
and
insert
the
cassette
to
be
recorded
into
the
cassette
compartment.
Press
the
REC
button
to
enter
the
REC
PAUSE
mode.
Then
adjust
the
recording
level
by
turning
the
REC
LEVEL
control
so
that
the
red
segments
of
the
level
meter
light
up
only
at
intervals.
After
the
level
setting,
put
the
unit
into
the
STOP
mode.
Set
the
TIMER
switch
to
REC.
Set
the
audio
timer
to
the
AUTO
pools:
and
set
the
start
time
and
stop
time.
When
the
start
time
set
above
comes,
the
power
to
all
required
components
will
be
turned
on
and
recording
will
start.
When
the
tape
has
been
wound
to
the
end,
the
tape
travel
will
be
stopped
by
the
auto
shut-off
function,
then
the
power
to
this
unit
and
the
stereo
system
will
be
turned
off
by
the
timer.
Timer
Playback
1.
Set
the
audio
timer
to
the
ON
position,
and
set
the
TIMER
switch
of
this
unit
to
OFF
(center
position).
2.
Insert
the
cassette
to
be
played
into
the
cassette
compart-
ment.
3.
Set
the
power
of
your
stereo
system
to
ON,
and
adjust
the
playback
level
of
the
tape
to
be
played.
4.
Set
the
TIMER
switch
to
PLAY.
5.
Set
the
audio
timer
to
the
AUTO
position,
and
set
the
start.
time
and
stop
time.
6.
When
the
start
time
set
above
comes,
the
powers
to
all
required
components
will
be
turned
on
and
playback
will’
start.
When
the
tape
has
been
wound
to
the
end,
the
tape
travel
will
be
stopped
by
the
total
shut-off
function,
then
the
power
to
this
unit
and
the
stereo
system
will
be
turned
off
by
the
timer.
