McDSP 6060 Ultimate Module Collection
Using the 6060
The 6060 Ultimate Module Collection has plenty of processing options. The
following sections cover basic operations, provide more in depth descriptions of
some of the features, and outline some of the applications of the 6060 plug-in.
Basics
The 6060 has three module groups (so far), they are EQ, Compression, and More.
While each module has a unique tone and/or function, the modules retain a
common set of controls so different EQ, Compression, and ‘More’ modules can
be auditioned on the fly during playback while relative settings are unchanged.
EQ
The 6060 has a dozen custom EQ and filter modules. McDSP’s founding in 1998
started with an equalizer plug-in called FilterBank. Over the last two decades
McDSP has developed its tone shaping techniques even further and some of the
results can be found in the 6060 EQ modules. Each module is described briefly
below.
Compression
The compressors in the 6060 module pull from over two decades of McDSP
engineering experience. Some modules are roughly based on industry classics,
while others are new designs. Unique features are added where possible,
including feedforward and feedback compression modes, and a switchable
negative compression mode in select modules.
More
The 6060 isn’t the largest collection of module-based processing options by
having ‘less’! Additional modules include expanders, gates, distortion/saturation
algorithms, de-essing, specialty tone shapers, and tape machine emulations.
And that’s just in the first release.
