13 Troubleshooting
Contact our hotline if the actions listed
below fail to rectify the problems or if
other problems not listed here occur.
You will nd the telephone numbers (local
rates) in the lid of the water tank or in the
Service section on our website.
Problem Cause Action
Coee only emerges
from the outlet in drips.
Grinding neness too ne.  Set a coarser grinding neness (see sec-
tion7.7, page24).
Appliance soiled.  Clean the brewing unit (see section8.2,
page25).
 Run the Cleaning coee system programme
(see section8.7, page26).
Appliance is covered
inside with limescale.
 Descale the appliance (see section8.8,
page26).
Coee does not ow
through.
Water tank not lled or
inserted incorrectly.
 Fill the water tank and ensure it is
positioned correctly (see section4.1,
page21).
Brewing unit clogged.
 Clean the br
ewing unit (see section8.2,
page25).
Grinder does not grind
coee beans.
Coee beans do not drop
into the grinder.
 T
ap lightly on the 2-chamber bean con-
tainer.
 Clean the 2-
chamber bean container.
"Bean Select" tilt lever is
positioned vertically.
 M
ove the tilt lever to the left or right.
Coee beans are too oily.
 Use dierent coee beans.
Foreign object in the
grinder.
 Contact the hotline.
The Rell beans display
ashes although the
2-chamber bean con-
tainer is full.
Coee beans do not drop
into the grinder. Insu-
cient ground coee beans
in the brewing unit.
 Press direct key.
Loud grinder noise. Foreign object in the
grinder.
 Contact the hotline.
Brewing unit cannot be
inserted after removing.
Brewing unit is not cor-
rectly locked.
 Check tha
t the handle for the brewing unit
locking mechanism is correctly engaged
(see section8.2, page25).
Drive is not in the correct
position.
 P
ress and hold the brewing strength
button. Also press the "On/O" button for
longer than 2seconds. Release the buttons
again. The appliance then initialises.
System error appears on
the display.
Software problem.  Switch the appliance o and on again.
