2. Tap on either side of the carrier with a leather/rubber mallet to break the adhesion between the carrier and the gear
housing. Remove the carrier and the propeller shaft.
a - Carrier
b - Propeller shaft
3. Inspect the carrier ball bearing for serviceability. If the bearing is rusted or does not roll freely, replace the bearing. If the
bearing must be replaced, use a slide hammer with the following Snap‑On Tools:
Expanding rod CG 40‑4
Collet 7/16 CG 40‑9
a - Bearing
b - Collet
c - Expanding rod
d - Slide hammer
Collet Snap‑On CG 40‑9
Expanding Rod Snap‑On CG 40‑4
Slide Hammer 91‑34569A 1
