Danger!
Prior to any servicing:
Switch machine OFF.
Unplug power cable.
Wait for cutterblock to come to a complete
stop.
Check to see that all safety devices are operational
after any servicing.
Trouble shooting
Motor does not run
Undervoltage relay
tripped by temporary
voltage failure.
Start again.
No supply voltage Check cables, plug, out-
let and mains fuse.
Motor overheated, e.g.
caused by
dull planer knives
overloading
chip buildup.
Remove cause for over-
heating and allow to
cool down for approx.
10 minutes, then start
again.
Performance lessens
Planer knives dull Install sharp knives.
Drive belt slips Re-tension drive belt
Planed surface not smooth
Planer knives dull Install sharp knives.
Planer knives blocked
by chips
Remove chips.
Moisture contents of
workpiece too high
Dry workpiece.
Planed surface cracked
Planer knives dull Install sharp knives.
Planer knives blocked
by chips
Remove chips.
Workpiece was planed
against the grain
Plane workpiece in
opposite direction
Too much material
removed in one pass
Make several passes
with thinner depth of
cut.
Feed rate too little
(thicknessing)
Resin buildup on thick-
nesser bed
Clean thicknesser bed
and apply light coat of
anti-seize compound.
Feed rollers stiff Repair feed rollers.
Drive belt slips Re-tension drive belt
Workpiece jams
(thicknessing)
Too much material
removed in one pass
Make several passes
with thinner depth of
cut.
