Locks & Alarm
Models without central door locking
Locking the car and arming the alarm:
1. Ensure all passenger doors and the tailgate are locked.
2. Insert the key into the driver's door lock and turn the door
lock towards the front of the car:
the driver's door is locked
perimetric alarm activated (protects the doors, bonnet
and tailgate)
engine immobilisation activated
3. The direction indicator lights flash to confirm that the car is
securely locked and the anti-theft alarm indicator light (in the
instrument panel) starts to flash. If the direction indicator
lights fail to flash, this indicates a mislock (see Mislock,
page 10).
Unlocking the car and disarming the alarm:
Turn the key in the driver's door lock towards the rear of the
car to disarm the alarm and unlock the driver's door.
NOTE: Using the key to operate the luggage compartment or
passenger's door lock, will NOT arm or disarm the alarm system. Once
armed, the alarm will sound if the luggage compartment or passenger's
door are unlocked and opened.
Mislock
If the direction indicator lights fail to flash when the alarm system
is armed, this indicates that a door or other aperture is not fully
closed, in which case the alarm system will still be armed and the
engine immobilised, but interior space protection
* will not have
been activated. Once the open door or aperture is closed, the
direction indicators will flash to confirm that the alarm system has
rearmed.
If the direction indicators still fail to flash, even though all door,
tailgate and bonnet apertures are closed, this indicates a fault with
the alarm system and you should contact your dealer.
Once armed, the alarm will sound if the tailgate, bonnet or any
door is opened.
Anti-theft alarm indicator light
After locking, the RED indicator light on the instrument panel
flashes rapidly while the alarm system is arming itself.
After 10 seconds, the indicator light adjusts to a slower frequency,
and continues flashing as an anti-theft deterrent until such time as
the alarm is disarmed.
THE KEY MUST ALWAYS BE USED TO LOCK THE
CAR AND ARM THE ALARM. USING THE HANDSET
TO ARM THE ANTI-THEFT ALARM WILL NOT
LOCK THE CAR
