Load Carrying

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS (Van models only)
In the event of an accident or emergency manoeuvre, an
unsecured load may cause personal injury to the occupants, or
adversely affect the stability of the vehicle. Secure loads to the
loadspace floor at all times.
Loads will inevitably shift position during normal driving as well as
in the event of an accident, or emergency manoeuvre.
• Always use ropes, straps or fixings to secure loads to the lashing
rings provided (proprietary fixing straps are available from most
accessory shops!).
• It is advisable to position the load as close to the bulkhead as
possible. This will minimise movement of the load in the event
of an accident or emergency stop.
• Always ensure that fragile or volatile loads are fully protected
and secured in a manner that will restrict movement and
prevent spillage during normal driving as well as in the event of
an emergency manoeuvre.
• Always pack small items into larger containers that can be
properly secured inside the loadspace.
• Never exceed the specified total carrying capacity and
maximum rear axle load for the vehicle, see ‘WEIGHTS (Van
models)’, page 186. Note that the total carrying capacity must
include the combined weight of any roof rack and roof-
mounted load.
Lashing rings
Four lashing rings are built into the loadspace floor where shown.
