SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
We thank you for the purchase of this MICHELIN Fast Grip
®
Snow Chains.
Please read the instructions below before using this product. Failure to follow these guidelines and
instructions may cause personal injuries and damage to equipment.
1. Do not place yourself in danger! For your
comfort and safety, practise fitting the chains
before attempting to do so on a snow-cove-
red road.
2. Ensure your tyres are those recommended by the
vehicle manufacturer, are in good condition and
that the tyre sizes match those listed on the pro-
duct application label. Ensure that the product
size matches exactly that of the vehicle tyres.
3. The handling of the vehicle may be changed when
using snow chains. Drive smoothly avoiding any
sudden acceleration or braking. When towing,
please ensure you observe the highway code!
4. Only use chains on roads that are covered in snow
and/or ice.
5. Follow the fitting/removal instructions carefully.
6. For your safety, we recommend that you wear a
fluorescent safety jacket/vest when fitting and re-
moving chains to/from your vehicle. Read the re-
commendations of the highway code in the event
of vehicle breakdown.
7. Fit the chains to your vehicle when it is parked
and secured in compliance with the fitting ins-
tructions. Always fit the chains in pairs on the
same axle, at least on the driving wheels. For 4x4
vehicles (4 wheel drive), it is preferable to fit 2
sets of chains. Suitable for passenger vehicles up
to a maximum of 3.5 tons.
8. Carry out a visual check on the chains each time
before fitting them.
IMPORTANT !
We accept no responsibility for any damage caused from failure to follow the guidelines and
assembly and disassembly instructions of this user manual
• Do not fasten the universal nut of the chain onto lock nuts or wheel nut caps.
• Remove the wheel caps and wheel nut caps.
We strongly recommend that you try the chains at home before first use.
EN
Only use original spare parts if repairs are necessary.
(Contact the customer service department for more information)
DO NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH JUST THE UNIVERSAL NUTS FITTED TO THE WHEEL
RIM. ALWAYS REMOVE THEM WHEN THE CHAINS ARE REMOVED.
9. Chains that have already been used must be
checked visually each time before they are fitted.
If they are damaged or broken, the chain must not
be fitted under any circumstances.
10. The pressure of the tyres must comply with the
vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Once the chain has been fitted, check that no part of
the chain touches any part of the vehicle, even when
the steering wheel is turned fully.
- After a short distance (approximately 50 - 100
metres), stop the vehicle and check that the chains
are still in position. The chains must not slip. Also
check that the chains are still correctly in position
after a distance of approximately one kilometre.
- Store the chains in a dry place when not in use. Wash
and dry the chains in clear water after use. Keep the
chains away from any chemicals (fuel, acid, heat).
- Before parking the vehicle for any prolonged pe-
riods, remove the chains so that they do not freeze
onto the tyres, which would make them harder to
remove.
- Be careful with your fingers, hands and hair when
fitting and removing the chains to avoid any injuries.
- Use the special snow chain fitting gloves supplied
in the case.
- Keep away from the wheel as soon as the chain has
been fitted and it is moving. Fit the chains in a sui-
table, safe place.
- If the vehicle is equipped with an anti-skid device
(ETS, ASR, ESP, DSC, etc...) do not deactivate it.
- Do not exceed a speed of 50 kph.
- The manufacturer may not be held responsible for
any failure to respect these guidelines or any modifi-
cations made to the chain by the user.
