2-13 SECTION WASTE TRAY WITH
INTEGRATED ARM REST
The section waste tray with integrated arm rest
surrounds the knife carrier area. It can easily be
cleaned and allows non-tiring working with the
microtome. It can easily be removed to the front.
2-14 STORAGE UNIT
The storage unit, which can be cooled, can be
installed on the left side of the instrument instead
of the operating panel. It can also be used
freestanding as a separate unit. For this, insert the
attached support on the rear bottom of the storage
unit.
The four tubes (fig. 23.1), which are placed in the
rear part of the storage unit, can be used for storing
brushes, tweezers and other working instruments.
The tubes can be removed for cleaning.
Use commercially available freezing blocks to cool
the storage plate (fig. 23.2) for cassettes. Two
freezing blocks are supplied together with the
instrument.
Put the freezing blocks into the deep freezer before
using them for the storage unit.
To insert a freezing block, remove the plate (fig.
23.2) upwards. Insert the frozen freezing block and
cover it with the plate.
This way, specimens can be kept cool for a certain
time.
2-15 BACKLIGHTING SYSTEM
The adjustment between specimen and cutting
edges is facilitated considerably by the
backlighting system. The small gap between knife
edge and specimen is illuminated and thus better
visible. The backlighting system is fastened to the
rear side of the base of the knife carrier with two
screws.
The plug of the supply cord is connected to the
socket on the right front side of the microtome.

CAUTION! Loosen the connecting cable on the
right side of the instrument, before removing knife
carrier or backlighting system.
