LIGHTING
RATIO
CALCULATIONS
The
meter's memory
function
lets
you
check
the
lighting ratio
(relative
brightness)
of
various
light
sources.
By controlling the lighting
ratio,
you
can
vary
the
amount
of shadow
detail in
a
photograph.
For
example, lighting
ratios
f
rom
2:1 through 4:1
produce
lighter
shadows
which
are
desirable in color
portraits.
Whereas
lighting
ratios
of
6:
1
and
higher
produce
much
deeper
shadows and
are often
used
in
dramatic
black-and-white
portraits.
