SAFETY MAINTENANCE
Safety and daily maintenance are the two most important things to remember when operating
machinery. A small amount of daily maintenance will make the weekly or monthly maintenance
much easier and less expensive. While maintaining your brush chipper, please follow the
safety guidelines which are written in bold print.
Always REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY and
COIL WIRE (on gasoline power units), DIS-
ENGAGE THE CLUTCH (if applicable), and
INSTALL THE DRUM LOCK PIN before at-
tempting any maintenance.
Do not, under any circumstances, open the
chipper housing without first making sure
the chipper drum has come to a complete
stop and power unit is off.
Because of the high temperature of the
coolant, use caution when removing radia-
tor cap.
Always shut off the machine before refuel-
ing.
Do not smoke, weld, or use any type of
flame near the machine when refueling.
Always wear appropriate clothing and safety
equipment while maintaining your machine.
Always wear leather gloves when changing
or servicing chipper knives.
Always replace all safety guards after ser-
vicing
Always make sure all filler plugs and caps
are in place after servicing.
When starting power unit indoors, make
sure the area is properly ventilated.
Do not attempt to unplug the chipper infeed
spout with the chipper running. Always
shut the engine off. REMOVE THE IGNI-
TION KEY and wait for the chipper drum to
come to a complete stop.
Remove the ignition key before attempting
any maintenance.
Replace all safety guards after servicing your machine.
Always wear appropriate clothing and safety
