Why is my MTD 1P65BOB Shown running erratically?

  An MTD engine might run erratically due to several reasons: * A loose spark plug boot. Connect and tighten it. * Reduced fuel flow from a blocked fuel filter. Replace the fuel filter as instructed in the Maintenance section. * A plugged vent in the gas cap. Clear the vent. * Water or dirt in the fuel system. Drain the fuel tank and refill it with fresh fuel. * Running the unit with the choke applied (if equipped). Push the choke knob in.

  If your MTD engine won't start, try these steps: * Engage the blade control (lawn mower only). * Connect the spark plug boot. * Fill the fuel tank with fresh gasoline. * Turn on the fuel shut-off valve (if equipped). * Prime the engine (if equipped with a primer) as instructed in the Operation section. * Clean, adjust the gap of, or replace the spark plug. * Replace the fuel filter. * Wait a few minutes to restart if the engine is flooded, without priming. * Choke the engine (if equipped with a choke). See engine manual. * Replace the fuse if burnt (electric start only).
