What to do if my MTD Paper Shredder unit does not discharge?

  If your MTD Paper Shredder unit does not discharge, consider these possible causes: * The chute deflector may be clogged. Stop the engine immediately, disconnect the spark plug wire, and clean the flail screen and inside of the discharge opening. * A foreign object may be lodged in the impeller. Stop the engine, disconnect the spark plug wire, and remove the lodged object. * The engine RPM may be too low. Always run the engine at full throttle.

What to do if MTD Chippers/Shredders unit does not discharge?

  If your MTD Chippers/Shredders unit does not discharge, immediately stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire. Then, clean the flail screen and the inside of the discharge opening. Also, stop the engine, disconnect the spark plug wire, and remove any foreign object lodged in the impeller. Always ensure the engine runs at full throttle.

  If your MTD Chippers/Shredders engine runs erratically, check that the spark plug boot is connected and tightened. Ensure the unit isn't running on CHOKE by moving the choke lever to the OFF position. Clean any blocked fuel line and refill the tank with clean, fresh gasoline. Always run the engine at full throttle. Drain the fuel tank and refill with fresh fuel if there's water or dirt in the fuel system.

  If the rate of discharge slows considerably or the composition of the discharged material changes in your MTD Chippers/Shredders, always run the engine at full throttle. Also, the chipper blade may be dull. Replace the chipper blade or see your authorized service dealer.
