Usage Features:

  • PXI/cPCI Compatibility: Designed as a 3U, single-slot module, ensuring seamless integration into PXI and cPCI chassis.
  • Triggering Capabilities: Supports both input and output triggering via PXI trigger lines, offering flexible synchronization with other instruments in a test system. The output trigger pulse width is programmable, allowing for fine-tuned control.
  • Hazardous Voltage Handling: The module is designed to carry signal voltages up to 150 V, but users must exercise caution when hazardous voltages (>42.4 Vpk/60 V DC) are present on any channel, as safety low-voltage cannot be connected to other channels. It is not intended for direct connection to MAINS supply circuits.
  • Inductive Load Switching: A note advises on potential high voltage transients when switching inductive loads and recommends transient suppression for optimal module operation and relay life.
  • Digital Filtering: The manual mentions the ability to disable digital filtering for input triggers, which can allow the recognition of trigger pulse widths less than 150 ns.
  • Topology Information: Detailed topology information is available in the NI Switches Help, which is crucial for understanding specific connection requirements and configurations.

Maintenance Features:

  • Expected Relay Life:
    • Mechanical: 1 × 10^8 cycles.
    • Electrical (resistive loads):
      • 10 VDC, 100 mADC: 2.5 × 10^6 cycles.
      • 10 VDC, 1 ADC: 1 × 10^6 cycles.
      • 30 VDC, 1 ADC: 5 × 10^5 cycles.
      • 30 VDC, 2 ADC: 1 × 10^5 cycles.
  • Field Replaceable Relays: The relays are designed to be field replaceable, allowing for easier maintenance and extended module lifespan. Instructions for relay replacement are provided in the NI Switches Help.
  • DC Path Resistance Monitoring: The DC path resistance typically remains low but rises rapidly above 1 Ω at the end of relay life, serving as an indicator for relay degradation.
  • Documentation and Support: The manual emphasizes referring to the NI Switches Help and ni.com/manuals for the most current specifications, detailed topology information, settling time considerations, and instructions for replacing failed relays.
  • Compliance and Certifications: The device is designed to meet various safety (IEC 61010-1, EN 61010-1, UL 61010-1, CSA 61010-1) and EMC standards (EN 61326-1, EN 55011, AS/NZS CISPR 11, FCC 47 CFR Part 15B, ICES-001), ensuring its reliability and adherence to international regulatory requirements. Online product certification information is available for further details.
