dependingontheEGRvalveassemblyposition,
issplitbetweentheEGRsystemandtheexit
paththroughthehigh-pressureturbochargerand
low-pressureturbocharger.
Theexhaustgasesowfromthelow-pressure
turbochargerthroughthevehicleaftertreatment
systemtotheexhausttailpipe.

Turbochargers
TheMaxxForce®15engineisequippedwithan
electronicallycontrolled,pneumaticallyactuatedtwo
stageturbochargingsystem.Thissystemprovides
highlevelsofchargeairpressuretoimproveengine
performanceandhelpreduceemissions.Becauseof
itsabilitytogenerateveryhighchargeairpressure
levels,thesystemisttedwithanaircontrolvalve
tocontrolover-boostandsurgingconditions.The
aircontrolvalveissuppliedcompressedairfromthe
vehicleairsupplytank.Thecompressedairowto
thewastegateactuatoriselectronicallycontrolled
bytheaircontrolvalvebasedonthePulseWidth
Modulated(PWM)signalsuppliedbytheEngine
ControlModule(ECM).Thehighandlow-pressure
turbochargersareinstalledasanassemblyonthe
exhaustmanifold,ontherightsideoftheengine.
