Protectingtheelectricalsystemduringchargingorwelding

severeirritationandburns.Alwayswear
splash-proofgogglesandprotectiveclothing
(glovesandaprons).Washhandsafterhan-
dling.
Failuretocomplywillresultindeathorseri-
ousinjury.

Precautions
Toavoiddamagetotheelectricalsystems,always
observethefollowing:
1.Nevermakeabreakinanyofthechargingcircuitcon-
nections,whentheengineisrunning.
2.Nevershortanyofthechargingcomponentstoearth.
3.Donotuseaslavebatteryofhigherthan12Vnominal
voltage.
4.Alwaysdisconnectthegroundcablefromthebatteries
beforecarryingoutarcweldingonthetractororonany
implementattachedtothetractor.
5.Positiontheweldergroundcableclampasclosetothe
weldingareaaspossible.
6.Neverallowweldingcablestolayon,nearoracross
anyelectricalwiringorelectroniccomponentwhile
workisinprogress.
7.Alwaysdisconnectthenegativecablefromthebatter-
ieswhenchargingthebatteriesinthetractorwitha
batterycharger.
ProtectionoftheAlternator
ProtectionoftheAlternator
1.Beforecarryingoutanyoperationonthealternator
pleasedisconnectthebattery.
2.Neverchecktheworkingofthealternatorbyconnect-
ingpositiveandnegativeterminals.
3.Donotrunthealternatorwithoutbatteryinthecircuit.
4.Donotusehighvoltagebulbsaswarninglight.
MaintenanceoftheBattery
1.Batteriesshouldnotbeallowedtodischargecom-
pletely.Ifthetractoristobestoredforaperiodof
morethan2weeks,thebatteryshouldberemoved
fromthetractorandstoredindrylocationinawooden
platform.Tricklechargeevery2to3weekstomaintain
thebatteryingoodcondition.
2.Ensurethattheelectrolytelevelinallbatterycellsis
preferablyatthemaximumlevel.However,ingeneral,
thelevelshouldbebetweenminimumandmaximum
marks.Adddistilledwater,iftheelectrolytelevelis
foundbelowtheminimumlevel.Donotusewell/tap
water.Donottopoffwithacid.
3.Thespecicgravityineverycellofthebatteryshould
ideallybebetween1.260-1.230.Atanypointoftime,
specicgravityincellsshouldnotfallbelow1.230.If
thereadingisbelow1.230,thenthebatteryshows
symptomsofadischargedbattery.Pleasereferitto
yourBatteryDealer.
4.Alwaysapplythebatteryterminalswithpetroleum
jellytoavoidcurrentleakageandrusting.Neveruse
greaseforthesamepurpose.
5.Alwaysdisconnectthegroundterminals(negativeter-
minal)ofthebattery,whilecarryingoutanyrepairson
thetractor,especiallyduringwelding.
6.Donotcranktheengineformorethantensecondsat
onetime.Waitforaboutthirtysecondsandthencrank
again.
StarterMotor
1.Startermotormountingnutsshouldbetight.
2.Givesufcienttimebetweenconsecutivestarts.
3.Donotrunthestartermotorformorethantensec-
onds.
4.Donotrunthestartermotorwithoutanyload.
5.Donotrunthestartermotorwithdischargedbattery.
