What to do if my New Yorker CG20F Boiler is 'Waiting for Limit to Open'?
    • L
      lloydjamesAug 18, 2025
If your New Yorker Boiler displays 'Waiting for Limit to Open', inspect the Blocked Vent Switch. If there's a blocked vent or poor draft, the switch will cut power to control P5-4, stopping the main burners, but the circulator will keep running until the thermostat is off. A qualified service agency should fix the blockage before you reset the switch.

How to fix an amber 'LOW WATER' LED on a New Yorker CG20F Boiler?
    • M
      Matthew GarciaAug 20, 2025
If the amber 'LOW WATER' LED is on, it means the New Yorker boiler isn't detecting water. Try these steps: 1. Remove the sensor from its well. 2. Ensure the metal clip sticks out enough to touch the inside of the well tube. 3. Check the well for grease or contaminants that might interfere with the sensor's contact. 4. If the issue continues, drain the boiler, remove the well, and check for residue buildup. Clean if needed, then reinstall.

What causes the New Yorker CG20F control to wait for the damper to open?
    • E
      emily39Aug 22, 2025
If the New Yorker Boiler control is waiting for the damper to open, it could be due to the damper end switch failing to close. Check these: * During status “STA18" or “STA 20”, control terminal “P6 - 5” (yellow wire) is energized. * Look for loose connections between the control and vent damper, and check the damper harness. * Inspect for obstructions blocking the damper's path.

Why is the amber LED blinking on my New Yorker IDL 1200 boiler?
    • G
      Gregory SheaAug 26, 2025
A blinking amber LED on your New Yorker IDL 1200 boiler indicates it's nearing its water detection limit. This could be due to: * A poor connection between the metal sensor head and the inside of the copper well. * Excessive residue buildup on the exterior of the well. To fix this, follow the steps outlined under B1.

Why won't the circulator start in my New Yorker CG20F Boiler?
    • W
      wellsaaronAug 28, 2025
The circulator won't start until the boiler water temperature is less than the Setpoint minus the differential. If the water temperature is above the Start Temperature (default 140 F°) and the Circulator Pre-purge time hasn't expired, the boiler start will be delayed until the water temperature drops or the time expires.

What does it mean when my New Yorker Boiler is in 'Retry Delay'?
    • R
      Rachael GonzalezAug 30, 2025
When the New Yorker Boiler is in 'Retry Delay', it means the burner didn't light (no flame signal). The control will wait 5 minutes before trying to light the burner again, and it will keep retrying without a limit.

What to do if my New Yorker CG20F doesn't detect a call for heat?
    • T
      thomasbrownSep 2, 2025
If your New Yorker Boiler isn't detecting a call for heat (tt = off and dh = off), check the thermostat. When a call for heat is detected, the control display should show “??”. Ensure the thermostat is calling for heat and that all contacts, including zone controls, are closed. Also, check for loose connections.

Why New Yorker CG20F Boiler spark does not stop when pilot lights?
    • S
      Susan MorrisonSep 4, 2025
If the spark doesn't cease after the pilot light ignites on your New Yorker Boiler, inspect for these potential issues: a loose connection in the ignition cable or ground wire, the continuity of the ignition cable, a clean flame rod, cracks in the pilot electrode porcelain. Ensure the pilot flame steadily covers the flame rod with a blue flame; if not, adjust it. Also, check for low gas pressure at the gas valve inlet or a defective control.

What to do if New Yorker CG20F Boiler main flame does not light?
    • A
      Ashley FoxSep 7, 2025
If the main burners on your New Yorker Boiler fail to ignite, examine the following: Check the orifice size for any blockages. Verify that there are 24 volts across control terminals P5-8 and P5-5; if there's no voltage during operation, the control is likely defective. Also, check for 24 volts across MV and MV/PV at the gas valve. Inspect the wiring harness to the gas valve for any breaks, and check for a defective gas valve.

What to do if New Yorker CG20F Boiler has no pilot flame?
    • C
      Chris RamirezSep 9, 2025
If the pilot light on your New Yorker Boiler fails to ignite, verify the following: Ensure all manual gas valves are open, the supply tubing isn't blocked, kinked, or leaking, gas line pressures are adequate, the gas line is purged of air, and the pilot orifice isn't plugged, ensuring pilot gas flow. Also, check for a condensate quenching pilot. Note that multiple 'call for heat' cycles may be needed to clear air from the pilot supply tubes.
