Flash compensation alters flash output from the level suggested
by the camera, changing the brightness of the main subject rel-
ative to the background. Choose from values between –3 EV
(darker) and +1 EV (brighter) in increments of
1
/
3 EV; in general,
positive values make the subject brighter while negative values
make it darker.
A Y icon is displayed when flash com-
pensation is in effect. Normal flash out-
put can be restored by setting flash
compensation to ±0. Flash compensa-
tion is not reset when the camera is
turned off.
