Automatic Scene Selection
The camera automatically selects one of the following scenes when you point the
camera at a subject.
• E! Auto mode (general use) (_ 27)
• _ Portrait (_ 34)
• _ Landscape (_ 34)
• _ Night landscape (_ 37)
• _ Night portrait (_ 35)
• _ Backlight (_ 39)
• B Close-up (_ 37)

Notes about Face Priority
• The camera may be unable to detect faces in the following situations:
"< When faces are partially hidden by sunglasses or other obstructions
o__ When the subject is not looking directly at the camera
When faces take up too much or too little of the frame
• Tile camera's ability to detect faces depends on a variety of factors, inchding
•_ whether or not tile subject is facing tile camera.
,_ • In some cases, included those noted in "Autofocus performance" (_ 23),

c autofocus may not perform as expected, and the subject may not be in focus
despite the fact that the double border glows green. When the camera is
o unable to focus, use another mode, such as I_ (auto) mode, focus on another
subject positioned at the same distance from the camera as the actual portrait
subject, and use focus lock (_ 27).
Flash settings in easy auto mode
Auto (default setting) or Off can be selected in the flash mode (_ 28).
• When _ItlITn (Auto) is selected, the camera automatically sets the flash mode
according to the determined scene mode.
• When _ (Off} is selected, the flash won't fire regardless of the shooting
conditions.
Restrictions applied to the functions in the easy auto mode
The macro mode button (_ 9, 31) on the multi selector is not available.
