6.3 ReTune
From time to time it may be necessary to recalibrate the UC4 electronics to
your sprayer’s hydraulics. Examples of such times are: when a hydraulic
solenoid valve is changed; when the hydraulic pump is changed or adjusted;
and when the normal working temperature of the hydraulic oil has shifted
significantly from when the system was previously calibrated.
If you are running a pull type sprayer and use different tractors to operate
the sprayer, you should run the Retune procedure each time the tractor is
changed. If you have a flow control for the boom hydraulics, set it prior to
tuning. If you change the flow setting by more than 20 percent, you should
retune. To do this, navigate to the "Retune ?" item in the setup menu and
confirm with the YES (Auto) switch. The procedure described in Section
6.5, starting at Step 6 will begin.
Follow the guidelines listed in Section 6.5 under Prepare the Equipment
before beginning the procedure (level booms, working RPM etc.).
6.4 Leveling Chains
Norac's ultrasonic sensors are calibrated to measure height accurately when
shipped from the factory. However, in order to measure the absolute height
of your spray nozzles, each sensor needs to know how far above the nozzles
it is mounted. To speed this process, Norac provides three leveling chains
in the kit that contained your sensors. These chains are to be used during
the "Install" or "Retune" procedures.
Before conducting an "Install" or "Retune", attach one chains on each wing
on one the main boom. On the wings, position the chains near the nozzle
closest to each outer wing sensor. Attach the third to one side of the main
boom such that it can be seen from the cab. The chains should just touch
the ground when the nozzle is at 35 inches height (see below).
