Wireless Connection Problems
S
hared Key Mode:
Connection fails when set for the Shared Key
mode, even though there are no problems with wireless
communication in the Open mode.
Possible Cause Suggested Solution(s)
The access point/wireless
computer setting is
incorrect.
Check the access point/wireless computer settings
and make any needed changes
Examples of the settings that need to be checked:
• Authentication setting (Set to the Shared Key or
Open mode.)
• Encryption mode (Set to WEP 64 bits or 128 bits.)
• WEP key, key size, key entry mode and key index.
Note:
Some access points will have a function for
automatically creating a WEP key from the
entered character string. This function is not
compatible with the printer.
Note:
When the access point and wireless
computer are set to authentication setting 'Open'
+ encryption mode 'WEP' and the printer cannot
be connected, change the authentication setting
to 'Shared Key' + encryption mode 'WEP.'
The printer WEP setting is
incorrect.
Check the printer’s WEP Key and Key Index and
make an needed changes.
Important!
If ASCII has been set as the Key
Entry mode, be careful to discriminate between
upper and lower case.
