What to do if my Oleo-Mac GS 440 Chainsaw engine will not start?
    • D
      Danny RodriguezJul 26, 2025
First, ensure the ignition switch is in the start position 'I'. If the engine still won't start, check for a spark at the spark plug tip. If there's no spark, try again with a new spark plug (CMR7A). If there is still no start, repeat the procedure with a new spark plug. Also, the engine may be flooded. In this case, follow the procedure on page 20.

Why is my Oleo-Mac GS 440 bar and chain running hot and smoking?
    • M
      matthew77Aug 7, 2025
The bar and chain might be running hot and smoking due to several reasons: the chain oil tank may be empty (fill the oil tank every time you fill the fuel tank), the chain tension may be too tight (adjust the chain tension according to the instructions), or there may be an oiler malfunction. To check the oiler, run the saw at full throttle for 15 to 30 seconds, then stop it and check for oil dripping from the bar tip guard and guide bar. If there's no oil, contact a Servicing Dealer.

What to do if my Oleo-Mac GS 440 engine does not reach full speed and emits excessive smoke?
    • C
      Christopher AlexanderAug 13, 2025
If your chainsaw engine isn't reaching full speed and is emitting excessive smoke, check the oil fuel mixture and ensure you are using fresh fuel with the correct 2-cycle oil mix. Also, inspect the air filter and clean it according to the maintenance instructions. If the problem persists, contact a Servicing Dealer for carburetor adjustment.

Why Oleo-Mac Chainsaw engine starts and runs, but chain is not rotating?
    • D
      Daniel CummingsAug 19, 2025
If the engine starts and runs but the chain isn't rotating, the chain brake may be engaged (release the chain brake). Also, the chain tension may be too tight (adjust the chain tension).
