What to do if my Oleo-Mac GS 650 bar and chain are running hot and smoking?

  If the bar and chain of your Oleo-Mac Chainsaw are running hot and smoking, consider these potential causes: 1. The chain oil tank may be empty. Ensure you fill the oil tank each time you fill the fuel tank. 2. The chain tension might be too tight. Adjust the chain tension according to the instructions. 3. There could be an oiler malfunction. Run the saw at full throttle for 15 to 30 seconds, then stop it and check for oil dripping from the bar tip guard and guide bar. If no oil is present, contact a Servicing Dealer.

  If your Oleo-Mac Chainsaw engine won't start or runs only briefly after starting (and the ignition switch is in the start position), consider these possibilities: 1. There might be no spark. Check for a spark at the spark plug tip. If there's no spark, repeat the test with a new spark plug (RCJ-4). 2. The engine could be flooded. Follow the procedure on page 20. If the engine still doesn't start, repeat the procedure with a new spark plug.

  If the engine of your Oleo-Mac Chainsaw starts and runs, but the chain isn't rotating, consider the following: 1. The chain brake might be engaged. Release the chain brake. 2. The chain tension could be too tight. Adjust the chain tension. 3. The clutch drum and/or rim sprocket might be damaged. If necessary, replace them - contact a Servicing Dealer.

  If your Oleo-Mac Chainsaw engine isn't reaching full speed or is emitting excessive smoke, the possible causes include: 1. Incorrect oil fuel mixture. Use fresh fuel and the correct 2-cycle oil mix. 2. A dirty air filter. Clean the air filter according to the maintenance instructions. 3. The carburetor may require adjustment. Contact a Servicing Dealer for carburetor adjustment.
