What to do if my Oleo-Mac GS 650 bar and chain are running hot and smoking?
    • B
      Brenda HarrisonJul 29, 2025
If the bar and chain of your Oleo-Mac Chainsaw are running hot and smoking, consider these potential causes: 1. The chain oil tank may be empty. Ensure you fill the oil tank each time you fill the fuel tank. 2. The chain tension might be too tight. Adjust the chain tension according to the instructions. 3. There could be an oiler malfunction. Run the saw at full throttle for 15 to 30 seconds, then stop it and check for oil dripping from the bar tip guard and guide bar. If no oil is present, contact a Servicing Dealer.

Check for a spark at the spark plug tip. If there's no spark, repeat the test with a new spark plug (RCJ-4). 2. The engine could be flooded. Follow the procedure on page 20.
