Cleaning the external surface
1.
Fill a basin with water and detergent solution at the temperature and
concentration recommended by the detergent manufacturer. Use a basin
which is at least 40 cm by 40 cm (16” by 16”) in size and deep enough to
allow the endoscope to be completely immersed.
2. Immerse the endoscope in the detergent solution.
3. With the endoscope immersed, use a soft brush or lint-free cloth to
thoroughly brush or wipe all external surfaces of the endoscope. Pay
particular attention to the air/water nozzle opening and ensure that all
surfaces of the distal end are cleaned thoroughly (see Figure 3.21).
