Overview of Server Function
The NX-series CPU Unit receives FINS commands issued from external devices such as host comput-
ers or CS/CJ/CP-series CPU Units on the Ethernet network and then can execute the requested serv-
ice.
Precautions for Correct Use
To use the FINS server function, select Configurations and Setup - Controller Setup - Built-
in EtherNet/IP Port Settings from the Multiview Explorer of the Sysmac Studio, and then se-
lect FINS Settings to select the Use Option for FINS/UDP and FINS/TCP. If the Do no use
Option is selected, response to FINS command is not returned because the FINS server func-
tion does not work.
If Packet Filter is used in the NX-series CPU Unit, you must configure Packet Filter to allow the recep-
tion of FINS commands. If the reception is not allowed by Packet Filter, the Controller cannot receive
the FINS command and a timeout error will occur on the client side. The following Controllers must be
configured for reception of FINS/UDP and FINS/TCP commands.
• FINS/UDP
Controllers that receive FINS commands
• FINS/TCP
Controllers for which Server is selected in the FINS/TCP Connection Settings, which are config-
ured by selecting Controller Setup - Built-in EtherNet/IP Port Settings - FINS Settings - FINS/
TCP.
