3.1.4 Minimum Straight Run Requirements
The straight run requirements presented below represent the minimum requirements
for accurate ow measurement. For optimum performance, provide as much additional
straight run as possible.
IMPORTANT NOTE
For proper operation, install the ow meter in a straight run of pipe free of bends, tees, valves,
transitions and obstructions for a distance of at least 3 diameters upstream and 2 diameters
downstream.

Place ow meter at least 3
pipe diameters upstream
and 2 pipe diameters
downstream from bends
and obstrutions.
Avoid downward ow
which can lead to partially
lled pipes.
The electrodes should
be located in the
horizontal axis (3 o’clock
and 9 o’clock) in order to
prevent sediment from
settling on them.
