Usage Features:

  • Installation: Designed for mobile audio environments, requiring careful planning for wiring and mounting to prevent interference and ensure adequate cooling. Amplifiers should be mounted horizontally in trunks or with at least one inch of clearance under seats for optimal airflow. End caps are removable for mounting access.
  • Wiring: Requires proper gauge power and ground wires (10 gauge or thicker for power/ground, 18 gauge for remote turn-on, 18-16 gauge for speaker leads). Grounding should be to a clean metal part of the vehicle, as short as possible. RCA, speaker, and power cables should be run separately to minimize interference.
  • Gain Control: Adjustable input level (200mV-6V) to match the source unit's output. Adjustment involves setting the head unit to 2/3 maximum volume and increasing amplifier gain until distortion is heard, then backing off slightly.
  • Crossover Controls:
    • Low Pass Filter (LPF): Selectable frequency range (20Hz-250Hz for A/B and H, 40Hz-300Hz for mono-block) to allow frequencies below the set point to pass.
    • High Pass Filter (HPF): Selectable frequency range (50Hz-1.5kHz or 500Hz-15kHz for A/B and H) to allow frequencies above the set point to pass.
    • Subsonic Filter: (Mono-block only) Cuts off extremely low bass frequencies (10Hz-40Hz) that cannot be effectively reproduced, improving efficiency and protecting subwoofers.
    • Crossover Switch: Allows selection between Full Range, Lowpass, or Highpass operation.
  • Bass Boost: Continuously adjustable from 0 to 18dB, centered at 45Hz, to enhance bass response.
  • Phase Shift Control: (Mono-block only) Allows selection between 0 (in-phase) and 180 degrees (inverted) to optimize staging with subwoofers.
  • Bridged Mode (Mono-block): Allows two identical mono-block amplifiers to be linked as Master/Slave for combined power output.
  • Protection Circuitry: Features Power, Protection, and Thermal LEDs to indicate operational status and fault conditions (short circuit, overcurrent, DC offset, undervoltage, overvoltage, reverse polarity, overheating). The protection indicator will self-reset once the condition is fixed.

Maintenance Features:

  • Fuse Replacement: Use only fuses with the specified amperage rating. Replacing with a higher amperage fuse or bridging a blown fuse can cause irreparable damage and void the warranty.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as no sound, amplifier not switching on, no sound in one channel, amplifier turning off at medium/high volume, and protection lamp activation. This guide helps users identify and resolve problems related to wiring, connections, speaker load, and power delivery.
  • Cleaning Contacts: Ensure all electrical contacts, especially at grounding points, are clean and free of paint, dirt, or corrosion to maintain optimal performance.
  • Ventilation: Proper ventilation is crucial for preventing overheating. Ensure the amplifier is mounted in a location that allows for adequate air circulation.
  • Professional Installation: For optimal performance and to avoid potential damage, it is recommended to have the product professionally installed by an Authorized Orion Dealer.
  • Warranty: A one-year warranty covers defects in material and workmanship, provided the product was purchased from an Authorized Orion Dealer and installed according to instructions. Misuse, neglect, accident, unauthorized service, or improper installation will void the warranty. Support is available via email at support@orioncaraudio.com.
