5.3 Installing the vacuum pump
The vacuum pump has a pyramid receiver on the proximal end and a receiver for a 34mm tube
adapter on the distal end. The receiver for the tube adapter has an insertion depth of 42mm.
Connecting the pyramid adapter and pyramid receiver
The pyramid adapter is fixed with the set screws of the pyramid receiver.
> Required materials: torque wrench (e.g.710D20), 636K13 Loctite241
1)
Fitting:
Screw in the set screws.
Use the torque wrench to tighten the set screws (10Nm).
2)
Definitive assembly:
Secure the set screws with Loctite.
Screw in the set screws.
Pre-tighten the set screws with the torque wrench (10Nm) and then tighten them (15Nm).
3) Replace any set screws that are protruding or are recessed too much with appropriate set
screws (see selection chart).

Connecting the tube adapter
> Required materials: torque wrench (e.g.710D20), degreasing cleaner (e.g.acetone),
636K13 Loctite241
1) Loosen the tube clamp cap screw by twoturns.
2) For final assembly: Degrease the insertion range of the receiver and tube adapter.
3) Insert the tube adapter into the receiver up to the stop.
4) For final assembly: Apply Loctite to the tube clamp cap screw.
5) Tighten the cap screw (tightening torque: 10Nm).
Connecting the socket connector
1) Shorten the hose of the socket connector or wrap it around the prosthesis so it does not stick
out.
2) Connect the hose to the intake valve of the vacuum pump.
5.4 Installing the outlet hose
The outlet hose is attached to the outlet valve of the vacuum pump. Air and fluids (suchas per
spiration) are drained through the outlet hose. Fluids must not be drained onto metal components
of the prosthesis. The longer the outlet hose, the quieter the vacuum pump.

Connect the outlet hose to the outlet valve of the vacuum pump.
5.5 Checking the stiffness of the functional ring
The stiffness of the functional ring influences the level of comfort while walking. With the Harmony
vacuum pump, the functional ring also determines the efficiency of vacuum generation. The stiff
ness is specified on the functional ring (the higher the number, the greater the stiffness).
