* For reception of FM broadcasts:
Set
this
switch
to
the
ON
position
when
tuning
in
an
FM
station
in
ordinary
cases.
Keep
it
at
that
position
while
listening
to
the
FM
broadcast,
and
the
AFC
will
mini-
mize drift.
Set
this
switch
to
the
OFF
position
for
picking
up
an
FM
station
which
is
hard
to
get
because
its
transmitter
frequency
is
adjacent
to
that
of
another
station
trans-
mitting
much
stronger
FM
signals.
* For reception of MW signals:
Set
this
switch
to
the
DX
position
when
MW
signals
are
weak
due
to
a
long
distance
from
transmitting
antenna
or
to
other
receiving
conditions.
Set
this
switch
to
the
LOCAL
position
when
MW
signals
are
extreme
strong
or
external
noise
is
especially
noticeable.

Connect
the
supplied
earphone
or
external
speaker

The
speaker
in
the
radio
is
automatically
disconnected

Slide this switch to the ‘‘RADIO”’ to receive broadcast
program.To play a record player connected to the unit,
slide it to the ‘‘PHONO”’.
OPERATING THE RADIO
1)
To
switch

radio
on,
set
the
Power
on/off

to
the
“ON”
position.

Set
the
Power
on/off

to
the
‘‘0”
position.

Set
the
Radio-phono
selector
switch@)
to
the
“RADIO”
position.
4)
Choose
the
desired
radio
broadcast
band
by
setting
the
band
selector®.

Set
the
AFC/DX-LOCAL
selector
switch®
to
“ON/DX”
position.
6)
Adjust
the
Volume
control®
to
the
desired
sound
level.

the
Indicator
function

“TUNE”
position.

Select
the
station
by
turning
the
Tuning
control®.
Proper
tuning
is
obtained
when
the
needle
of
the
Triple
indicator@
deflects
most
widely
to
the
left.
9)
Adjust
Bass@®
and
Treble@
controls
to
obtain
the
desired tone quality.
To
turn
the
radio
off,
set
the
Power
on/off
switch®
to
the ‘‘OFF”’ position.

ANTENNAS

The
powerful
built-in
ferrite
core
antenna
is
directional.
To
improve
reception
of
weak
stations,
slowly
rotate
the
unit
to
obtain
the
best
possible
MW
and
SW
(RF-888JB/
JBS
only)
reception.

For
maximum
SW
signals,
pull
out the
Telescopic
whip
antenna@®
in
a
vertical
position.
«
To
receive
maximum
FM
signals,
pull
out
the
Telescopic
whip
antenna
and
rotate
until
optimum
reception
is
obtain-
ed.
Retune
as
necessary.
