4. Installation (see. Fig. 4/a/b)
Indoor positioning
Always guarantee a su cient air ow as follows (see Fig. 1):
• Provide an appropriate air inlet and outlet (open window or
other).
• If possible place the a erccoler’s air intake up against the air
inlet for maximum cooling (leave a 500mm gap between a er-
cooler and wall to allow fan servicing).
• Never place the a ercooler’s air inlet near the (hot) air com-
pressor.
Outdoor positioning
When positioning the a ercooler outdoors, respect the following
guidelines (see Fig. 2):
• It is recommended to position the unit under an overhead
protection.
• Avoid positions where leaves and other impurities can be
sucked into the air intake.
In order to guarantee the stability of the equipment even in the
case of wind or adverse atmospheric conditions, it must be an-
chored to the ground using suitable  xing devices, to be applied to
the holes provided for this purpose at the base of the legs.
ALWAYS INSTALL THE AFTERCOOLER WHERE THERE IS
THELOWEST POSSIBLE AMBIENT AIR TEMPERATURE.
a) Install the unit only in environments which ensure an
ambient temperature within the range speci ed on the data
plate.  ese limits must be observed in all cases.
b) Install one or more safety valves as necessary on the air side
to ensure that maximum design pressure is never exceeded.
ese valves must be  tted in such a way that there is no risk
of any expelled  uid coming into contact with operators.
c) If the pressurised  uid circuit is subject to vibration, use
exible hoses and vibration dampers to connect up the unit, or
secure the circuit more  rmly to eliminate the vibrations.
If the circuit is subject to pressure pulses of more than 10%
rated pressure, install a pulse damper to reduce them to below
this level.
d) Make sure that the air around the unit does not contain con-
taminating solids or gases. Compressed and condensed gases
can react to produce acids and other chemicals which could
damage the unit.
Take particular care with sulphur, ammonia, chlorine and
installations in marine environments. For further advice or as-
sistance consult the manufacturer.
e) Support the air/gas inlet and outlet pipes if they strain the
connection ports and/or  anges.
f) If the unit is installed in a seismic zone, install suitable devices
to protect against seismic activity.
g) Install  re-prevention and  re- ghting equipment suitable
for the area in which the unit is installed in order to protect it
against  re.
h) If operating temperature exceeds 60°C,  t any protective
guards necessary to prevent accidental contact and burns.
RESPECT THE DIRECTION OF THE AIR/WATER IN-
LET AND OUTLET LABELS.
AIR CONNECTIONS: Attach the compressed air piping to the
threaded/ anged connections on the apparatus.
e apparatus must be installed immediately downstream of the
compressor, and with the separator downstream of the a ercooler.
BY-PASS: Install a by-pass line with its own shut-o valve (4 - Fig.
1/Fig. 2) as well as shut-o valves on both the a ercooler inlet and
outlet (5 - Fig. 1/Fig. 2).
5. Operation
FOR SEPARATOR SEE RESPECTIVE MANUAL.
e temperature of incoming  uids, must never exceed the maxi-
mum value speci ed on the data plate. If temperatures exceed the
speci ed values, contact the manufacturer for further information.
Avoid subjecting the unit to thermal stress caused by repeated
uctuations in incoming  uid temperature.
To guarantee optimum operation, ensure that the maintenance
program below is performed regularly, and that the following rules
are respected:
• Ensure a constant air  ow through the a ercooler coil.
• Drain all water out of the a ercooler when it is not in opera-
tion (to prevent ice formation).
FILTER/REGULATOR - LUBRICATOR - MOTOR
GROUP
is component (see Fig. 5)must only be used with compressed
air. Use with any other  uid (liquid or gas) is not permitted. For
safety reasons the  lter should be installed before the regulator.
e operating characteristics are indicated in Fig. 5.
