Do you have a question about the Pentair Hypro 9303 Series and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Hypro Series 9303 centrifugal pumps are designed for creating and boosting pressure in fluid circuits, taking in fluid from an inlet port, slinging it by the impeller, and expelling it through the outlet port. These pumps are constructed with housings, impellers, and seals made from various materials to resist a range of chemicals. Standard models rotate clockwise when viewed from the shaft end.

Intended Uses:

Hypro centrifugal pumps are intended for creating or boosting dynamic pressure in approved fluids. They should not be used to pump liquids above 140°F (60°C) or below 34°F (1°C). For pumps with hydraulic motors, the hydraulic oil temperature should not exceed 135°F (57°C). Any use outside these specifications is considered a misuse.

Misuses (Prohibited Actions):

  • Running the pump faster than the maximum specified speed.
  • Running the pump higher than the maximum specified pressure.
  • Running pumps when the liquid temperature is outside the maximum or minimum limits.
  • Pumping non-approved liquids.
  • Pumping water or other liquids for human consumption.
  • Operating the pump under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • Running the pump dry.
  • Running the pump with a higher than recommended voltage.
  • Running the pump hydraulic motor higher than the specified RPM, pressure, or flow.

Usage Features:

  • Assembly and Installation: The pump comes completely assembled. Installation should only be performed by a qualified technician wearing steel-toed shoes and protective gloves. Pumping systems must be installed according to Hypro instructions to avoid voiding the warranty. Electrical tests must comply with EN60204-1:2006/A1:2009. Hydraulic components must withstand maximum source pressure, and working pressure must be controlled by a pressure relief valve.
  • Plumbing: For maximum performance, the outlet port should point straight up, and inlet/outlet lines should be sized appropriately. Plumbing must be capable of withstanding maximum suction and pressure.
  • Hydraulic Installation: Ensure no dirt or liquid enters the hydraulic motor. All hydraulic connections must be clean. The return line must be connected to the low-pressure return port on the tractor. Hydraulic supply lines should be at least the same size as the hydraulic motor port. Hooking up the motor in the wrong direction will damage the hydraulic seal.
  • Metering Orifice (HM2 and HM4 motors): Not required for load-sensing closed-center or open-center systems with specific flow rates. Correct orifice size is determined by system performance, starting with the smallest and increasing as needed.
  • Control Systems: All pump systems with electric or hydraulic power sources require a control system meeting local and national standards.
  • Priming: Keep the inlet/suction line short with minimal bends. Ensure all connections are tight. Non-self-priming pumps require the inlet line and pump to be flooded before starting. Self-priming models require the front chamber to be filled with liquid.
  • Operation (Hydraulic):
    • Open Center Systems: Adjust bypass screw, warm hydraulic oil, prime pump, then set spraying pressure and flow using the bypass screw. Shutdown by returning the directional valve to neutral. Monitor oil temperature to prevent damage from bypassing hydraulic oil.
    • Closed Center (Pressure-Compensated): Adjust bypass screw, warm hydraulic oil, close and lock bypass screw, prime pump, then set spraying pressure and flow using the tractor's flow control valve. Shutdown by moving the selector to the float position.
    • Closed Center (Load-Sensing): Close and lock bypass screw, set tractor hydraulic flow control to minimum, warm hydraulic oil, prime pump, then set spraying pressure and flow using the tractor's flow control valve. Shutdown by moving the selector to the float position.
    • Sudden stops can damage the pump's drive system.

Maintenance Features:

  • Safety: All maintenance must be performed with machinery stationary and isolated from energy sources. Release all system pressure before maintenance. Do not service if the pump unit is above 109°F (43°C). Wear steel-toed shoes, protective gloves, and eye protection when handling or repairing pumps.
  • Disposal: Remove all fluids from the pump before scrapping, disposing of them according to local and national regulations.
  • Cleaning: Flush the pump with a neutralizing solution and then clean water after each use, especially for corrosive chemicals. For infrequent use or long storage, drain the pump thoroughly, remove suction hose, blow dry with air, and inject antifreeze/rust inhibitor before plugging ports.
  • Preventative Maintenance Checklist:
    • Daily: Check for water leaks.
    • Weekly: Check plumbing.
  • Troubleshooting: A table is provided to diagnose common issues (e.g., pump not priming, low discharge, pump not turning, hydraulic system overheating) and their probable causes and corrective actions.
  • Replacement Parts: Genuine replacement parts must be used. Detailed drawings and part lists are provided for 9303C(S) and 9303P models, including hydraulic motor part numbers, adapter kits, and repair kits.
