You can change the autofocus area (Focusing Area).
Focusing Area
1 Press the 3 button in A mode.
The [A Rec. Mode] menu appears.

Use the four-way controller (

) to select [Focusing Area].
3 Press the four-way controller (5).
A pull-down menu appears.
4 Use the four-way controller (23)
to change the setting.
5 Press the 4 button.
The Focusing Area setting is saved.
6 Press the MENU button.
The camera returns to capture status with the current setting.

J
Multiple Normal range
K
Spot The autofocus range becomes smaller.
W
Automatic Tracking AF Keeps moving subjects in focus.
•In Y mode, [Focusing Area] can only be set to J (Multiple) or
K (Spot).
•In b and I mode, [Focusing Area] is set to J (Multiple).
•In d mode, you can set the focusing area in the recording mode
menu but the focus mode during shooting is fixed to 3. (p.79)
If you use the [Focusing Area] function frequently, you can save
time by assigning it to the Green button. (p.56)
