General Maintenance
Variable Exhaust System (VES)
Mainte nanc e of the VES is limited to a per iodic inspection and
cle aning of system compone nts. Every 1000 to 2000 miles (800-1600
km), bring the mac hine to a n author ize d Polar is dea ler to have the VES
disassembled, inspected, and cleaned.
NOTE: To ensure maximum per for man ce and minimize requir ed
mainte nanc e, follow the oil re c ommenda tion chart on page 59. The
use of other lubric ants may ca use improper function of the valve mec h-
anism and incre a se the fre quenc y of require d clea ning due to exce ssive
build-up of ca rbon deposits.
Water Pump Belt Inspection
Polaris Liberty 700 and 800
engines require inspection
of the water pump belt at
1500 miles (2400 km).
Inspect belt width (A) and
condition. Replace if
cracked or worn past the
width service limit (.250″ /
6.35mm). New belt width
is approximately .345″
(8.75 mm). S ee your
Polaris dealer if the belt
needs to be replaced.
