Flushing the Cooling System
To ensure that the coolant maintai ns its ability to protect the engine,
the system should be completely drained every two years and a fresh
50/50 or 60/40 mixture of antifreeze and distilled water should be
added. This service m ust be done when the engine is cold. Ask your
Polaris dealer to check the coolant when he performs the fall tune-up
on your snowmobile.
Bleeding th e Coo lin g System
If the pressure cap needs replacement, contact your dealer for the
correct part. Use of a non-standard pressure cap will not allow the
recovery system to function properly.
Recovery System (WideTrak)
If the coolant level becomes low in the coolant bottle, bleed the system
of any trapped air. Visually inspect the coolant filter (A) and replace it
if it’s dirty.
1. Fill the coolant bottle with coolant to the
maximum mark.
2. Elevate the front end of the machine
slightly to aid bleeding of the heat
exchangers.
3. Remove the pressure cap and add coolant to
the top of the filler neck.
4. Install the pressure cap with the lever lock up, in its release
position.
5. Run the engine at various RPMs for t wo to three minutes to purge
the system of trapped air.
6. Close t he lever lock and check the coolant bottle fluid l evel. Add
coolant if necessary to the maximum mark.
Steam and hot liquids will cause serious burns to your skin.
Never bleed the cooling system or remove the pressure cap
when the engine is warm or hot.
