MAINTENANCE
n Alternator Belt Inspection
Inspect the alternator belt condition and tension before each ride.
1. Stop the engine.
2. Open the hood.
3. Inspect the belt for wear,
cracks or other damage. If the
belt is worn or damaged,
install a new belt.
4. Grasp the alternator belt and
attempt to twist it.
5. If the belt rotates 1/4 turn (90 degrees) or more (as shown), tighten
the belt or install a new belt.
Air Filter
Inspect the air filter for oil and dirt accumulation at the intervals out-
lined in the Periodic Maintenance Table beginning on page 98.
1. Open the air box.
2. Remove the air filter.
3. Shake or pat the filter to clean it, or install a new filter. Do not
attempt to clean the filter with liquids.
Foam Oil Breather Filter
Clean or replace the breather element at each engine oil change. See
page 110. Clean the element if the snowmobile has been tipped on its
left side three times.
