PROBLEM
CAUSE
REMEDY
1. Unit does not operate.
Circuit breaker(s) at main power
source panel is off.
Main disconnect switch on control
panel is off.
Control panel motor overload re-
lays are tripped.
Fuse is blown.
Time-out function is activated.
Switch circuit breaker(s) to on.
Switch to on. (Note switch is cover mounted.)
Switch toggle switch(es) inside control panel to on.
Usually an indicator of an external wiring problem.
Consult electrician or factory.
Wait a full 60 seconds before engaging key switch. If,
after 60 seconds, the unit functions for a few seconds
when engaging the key switch and, again, shuts off,
the time-out function is activated. This is an indicator
of the reed device being by-passed. Check wires 14
and 17 at the control panel and motor for proper con-
nection. Do not confuse the time-out function with the
self-leveling function, explained in the operational in-
structions under number 8.
2. Limit switch does not
stop direction of travel.
Incoming power at control panel
is not in phase with direction of
motor travel.
Incoming power source wires to be reversed; switch
L1A with L2A at the control panel. DO NOT reverse
wires at electric motor or ANY location; this will
override the limit switch controls.
3. Unit will not go up.
Misaligned actuator bar.
One or both upper limit actuator bars are lodged in
the UP positi
on. Pull bar in DOWN po
sition, which
will release the limit switch. Lubricate the bar section
at guide tube. Refer to Figure H.
4. Load bar is not level.
Cable is not winding properly on
the take-up drums.
Internal counter is not reset.
Cable center-to-center at motor
units does not match center-to-
center at load bar.
Initial adjustment of cable may not be level. Call your
Porter dealer or the factory.
Lower the unit by holding the key in the DOWN posi-
tion until both lower limit switches are actuated. This
must be done during all travel cycles.
Realign hoist(s) to align cable centers at hoist eleva-
tion with cable centers at load bar.
