moves at idle speed
refer to CAR-
BURETOR
ADJUSTMENT
within this
manual.
Avoid
contact
with the
muffler. A hot
muffler can cause serious
burns.
To stop the engine
move
the
ON/STOP
switch to the STOP
position.
To
start
the engine hold
the
saw
firmly on the
ground
as
illustrated.

free to turn without contaclng any
oblect.

IMPORTANT POINTS
TO REMEMBER
When
pulling
the
starter
rope, do
not
use
the
full extent of.the
rope
as
this can cause the
rope to
break.
Do not
let
starter
rope snap
back.
Hold the
handle and let the rope
re
wind slowly.
For
cold
weather startrng. start
the unrt at
FULL CHOKE.
allow the engine
to warm up
before squeezing
the throttle
trigger.
NOTE: Do
not
attempt
to cut
material with
the chokelfast
idle lever in the
FULLCHOKE
posrtron.

STARTING
A
COLD
ENGINE
(orwarm
engine after
running out of
fuel)
NOTE:
tn the following steps.
when the
chokeiJast
idle lever is
pulled
out to the
lull
extent.

idle lever out
to the
Jull
extent
(to
the
FULL
CHOKE
position).
4. Pullthe starter
rope
sharply
5 times
with
your
right hand. Then,
proceed
to the
next
Step.
NOTE: lf the engine sounds
as if
it is trying
to
start
before the 5th
pull.
stop
pulling
and
immediately
proceed
to the
next step.

Push the choke/{ast
idle lever
in to the
HALF
CHOKE
posrtion.
CHOKE/FAST
IDLE LEVER

Pull the starter
rope
sharply
with
your
right hand until the engine
starts.
7. Allow the engine to
run Ior approximale-
ly
30 seconds.
Then. squeeze
and re
lease the throttle trigger
lo allow engine
to return to idle speed.
STARTING

to the ON

3 To set the
fast idle,
pull
the
choke/Jast
idle lever out to the

the
full
choke

then
push

lever
back

4. Pull the starter
rope sharply

your
right hand unt I the engrne
starts
5. Squeeze
and
release throltle
tngger to
allow engrne
to return to
rd
e
speed.
DIFFICULT STARTING
(or
starting a
flooded engine)
The engrne
may
be
f ooded
with too much
fuel if t
has not
started
after 10
pulls.
Flooded
engines can be cleared
oJ excess
fuel by
prrshrng
lhe choke
fast
rdle
lever
in com-
pletely
(to
the OFF CHOKE
posrtion)
and
then
followrng the warm engine startrng
pro
cedure
listed
above.
Ensure the ON/STOP
swrtch
rs in the ON
position.
