Diode Across Current Sense R

A diode (Schottky or ultrafast) positioned
across the current sense resistor (R

) acts
as a bypass for very high surge of current
and voltage during short-circuit which
could potentially damage R
IS
. This is more
likely for designs with high output voltage
and high output lter capacitance.
Capacitor Across Current Sense R
IS
Putting a capacitor (10 - 100 nF) across IS
and GND pins when R
IS
is placed some-
what away from the IC will reduce pulse
grouping (bunching) in CC operation.
