Why is the PowerShield UPS backup time so short?
    • R
      riossarahJul 28, 2025
If the PowerShield UPS backup time is short or nonexistent during a power failure, several factors could be the cause. First, check if your equipment is connected to surge protection outlets, as these do not offer battery backup; connect critical devices to the UPS outlets instead. The unit may also be overloaded, so remove some equipment from the UPS outlets and check the load level indicator on the LCD display. A low battery could also be the reason; try recharging the unit for at least 6 hours. Lastly, the battery itself might be faulty and require replacement with a PowerShield battery kit.

      Sandra TaylorAug 6, 2025
If the LCD display on your PowerShield UPS is not lit, it could be due to a few reasons. The battery might be low, so recharge the unit for at least 6 hours and try starting it again. Alternatively, the battery might be faulty and need replacement with a Powershield battery kit. Finally, the input circuit breaker might have tripped; check the circuit breaker on the rear panel and reset it if necessary.

If your PowerShield UPS stays on battery even when the utility power is normal, there are a couple of potential causes. The input circuit breaker may have tripped; check the circuit breaker on the rear panel and reset it if needed. Alternatively, the input power cord might be loose; ensure it is properly reconnected to the wall outlet.
