New Gmail (Google Mail) message
Notification panel
Notifications alert you to the arrival of new messages, calendar events, and alarms, as well as other
events, like downloads.
When a notification arrives, its icon appears at the top of the screen. Icons for pending notifications
appear on the left, and system icons showing things like WiFi signal or battery strength on the right.
If a new notification icon displays in the status bar, touch and hold the status bar, then slide your
finger upwards to open the Notifications panel as follows:
