TX300 S3 Operating Manual 87
8 Hot plug components
This chapter describes how to handle hot pluggable components and/or how to
modify your server hardware.
The hot-plug procedure (replacing components while the system is operating)
increases the availability of the system and ensures a high degree of data
integrity and reliability.
I Upgrades, updates and replacement of permanently installed compo-
nents are described in the “Options Guide” or in the service supplement
and may only be performed by trained specialist personnel.
8.1 Hot-plug power supply units
I A redundant power supply can be created by installing a second hot-
pluggable wide range power supply unit (optional). If one power supply
unit fails, the other unit ensures operation can continue uninterrupted.
The defective power supply unit can be replaced online.
V CAUTION!
Please observe the safety information in chapter “Important Information”
on page 19.
